About the speaker

At Carleton, Elisabeth Steele Hutchison '96 majored in political science and was active in Model United Nations. She credits Professors Norm Vig, Steven Schier, and Mike Molitor for fueling her interest in politics.

Elisabeth worked at the White House and at the Federal Emergency Management Agency before earning a JD from the Yale Law School. Elisabeth is on the faculty of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Law School, where she is the director of admissions. Elisabeth has developed and taught Women's Studies courses at UHM, and she is an affiliate faculty member at the UH Center for Teaching Excellence.

Since the Law School moved online, Elisabeth has presented to more than 1,500 professors and students about teaching and learning on (web)camera. She is now a sought-after speaker about the vagaries of teaching and working online and on camera.
